The Platform

Introduction
The T-66 Vantram Drives Tricore Mobile Surveying Platform, better known as the Mobile Surveying Platform (or simply The Platform), will be your home for the duration of your contract with the Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation. It is a marvel of engineering and design, drawing on knowledge and systems from hundreds of worlds across dozens of timelines.

For as long as you're with the Ozymandias Corporation, you'll eat, work, and live on the Platform. As such, it's a good idea for you to begin familiarizing yourself as soon as possible
History
When that first group of dimensional explorers stumbled across Atreus, they immediately understood that they had found a true treasure trove, but also knew that their current equipment was insufficient to the task of exploiting it. The energy demands of dimensional travel had kept their craft small, scarcely large enough to fits its crew, and it was only intended for short-term voyages. To map, mine, and otherwise access the riches of the Treasure Planet would require more people, over a longer period of time, and would need enormous pieces of equipment.

To this end, they immediately began seeking bids for the construction of a suitable operations platform. The end product would need to be mobile, self-sufficient, capable of the transportation of all required equipment, and be livable over the longterm for a sufficiently-sized crew. Additionally, the platform needed to be designed to be transported to the planet in small pieces over time, and then assembled on site, in order to spare the expense of opening a dimensional rift large enough to accommodate the finished platform. In the end, the contract was awarded to the Vantram Drives Shipyard of universe QM6632. The prototype went into production shortly thereafter. To date, six T-66 Vantram Drives Tricore Mobile Surveying Platforms have been constructed, two of which have since been retired or destroyed.
Layout
The T-66 Vantram Drives Tricore Mobile Surveying Platform consists of three enormous engines, generally referred to as 'spires', organized in a triangular fashion and connected by multiple walkways. At the center of this formation sits a smaller structure, containing the Platform's power core and dimensional transporter. Any two of the spire engines are capable of sustaining a stationary position, and one engine is capable of performing a controlled descent.

Most of each spire is taken up by the engines, which must continually fire in order to keep the platform aloft. Each spire also has a flight desk on its uppermost level, a vehicle hangar in the levels below it, security stations, and a massive freight elevator running through its center from top to bottom. The remaining space is allocated to living quarters, storage, and work and recreation areas as needed.

Each spire, designated by the letters A, B, and C, serves a specific function.

  • Spire A contains the Platform's central control room, from which crewmembers can maintain and control all of the platform's basic functions. It also contains the offices and record rooms of the Engineering division, storage space for the equipment used in establishing mining facilities, and the living quarters for engineers and pilots.

  • Spire B contains the science lab and medbay, as well as living quarters for Medical and Research division personnel.

  • Spire C contains the mess hall, recreational facilities, and central Security station. It also contains living quarters for Logistics and Security division personnel.
Facilities
At the Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation, we're committed to providing you with the equipment and facilities you need to do your job in a safe and efficient manner. The Platform comes equipped with everything you need.

  • Living Quarters Although we at the Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation understand that our employees need space in which to live and rest, space on board the platform is at a premium. All crewmembers are allocated a bunk within the crew living quarters, divided up according to Division. Each bunking unit can contain up to eight crewmembers. Each bunk is equipped with a privacy screen, and all bunking units have access to a nearby communal shower area.

Officers are entitled to a small private cabin, equipped with a private shower.

  • Command Center Sitting in the upper levels of Spire A, the command center is where the piloting crew controls her and moves her from area to area. All of the platform's core functions can be controlled remotely from here, including engine flow, power allocation, and communication. The only major system which cannot be controlled remotely are the defenses, which must be controlled directly from the nearest security station.

  • Flight Deck The uppermost deck of each spire, exposed to the air, is the flight deck, from which the Platform's fleet of T98 Flamingo VTOL Dropships take off and land. The flight deck can hold up to three Flamingos at a time, safely secured in place. The central freight elevator shaft opens in the center of the flight deck, and is covered with a metal door when not in use. Safety regulations require that all personnel be secured with a safety line while working on the flight deck.

  • Hangar Directly below the flight deck in each spire sits the hangar, which can contain up to six Flamingo dropships, alongside the rest of the Platform's land-and-air vehicle fleet. Regulations require that all vehicle maintenance be performed in the hangar, rather than on the flight deck.

  • Engine Room Each spire contains a massive fusion engine, which must be kept firing constantly to maintain altitude. From the engine room, members of the Logistics division can access its vital systems to affect maintenance and repairs as needed.

  • Research Lab Equipped with sophisticated imaging technology, comprehensive computer databases, and sealing and storage units, the research lab is equipped to analyze anything found on the planet, from bizarre flora and fauna to alien technologies.

  • Medbay Your health is our primary concern, and so we've spared no expense in equipping the medical division with equipment and staff. With powerful diagnostic and imaging tools at their disposal, and computers which can quickly formulate and synthesize whatever drugs are needed, the medbay is able to handle anything from a papercut to an unknown infectious disease.

  • Mess Hall Regular meals are served in the Mess Hall, provided free of charge by the Ozymandias Corporation. Manned by specialized crewmembers from the Logistics division, the mess contains a full kitchen designed for the preparation of nutritionally sound prepackaged rations. The kitchen may also be used to prepare any local flora and fauna which has been approved by the Medical division.

  • Recreational Facilities Each Platform is equipped with a basic lounge area and exercise facility. The exercise facility contains weightlifting equipment and a small flat area set aside for team sports.

  • Security Stations Each major area of the Platform contains at least one security station, generally adjacent to one of the Platform's defensive weapon banks. Each station should be manned by at least two Security division members at all time, and serves as the distribution point for weapons and other personal protection equipment.
