What is it you desire? Is it riches beyond imagining? Military might? Knowledge of what lurks beneath the skin of the world? Perhaps even something as philanthropic as a cure for a terrible disease. Well, whatever you seek, it can be found on Atreus. Atreus: an artificial world, created by an ancient alien race. Their empire once extended across all of time and space, but now all that remains is this one world, tucked away in a pocket universe, left behind as a monument to their former glory. It holds riches beyond measure, and treasures from across all of space and time, but it is certainly not a safe place. That is why The Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation is seeking only the best candidates from all across the multiverse to man its Platform and help extract those riches. Ozymandias is a pan-fandom roleplaying game, in which characters have been hired by a powerful corporation to help explore and exploit an alien treasure trove. There'll be danger a'plenty, but the rewards of success will be beyond imagining.

We welcome feedback from employees on all subjects, including the our current navigational heading. If there is a certain type of environment, an idea for an alien creature, or any other suggestion you would like to make, please feel free to leave it in the comments below. These need not be complete ideas: we appreciate even a context-free mental image. |
Code of Conduct | |
All employees of the Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation are expected to remain professional and well-behaved at all times. The following guidelines are not comprehensive, and may be modified, extended, or reinterpreted as needed by Corporate administrators. Be respectful of your fellow players. Or, less diplomatically, don't be an asshole. We don't expect you to bend over backwards to try and make everybody happy, and we know that everyone has off days, but if you're consistently unreasonable, a jerk to those around you, or otherwise foster a toxic environment around yourself, you're not particularly welcome in this game. Don't cause trouble. If you have a disagreement with another player, we expect that you will both behave like mature adults and talk it out. If the two of you simply cannot get along at all, we expect that you will, like mature adults, simply keep out of each other's way. Your personal disagreements should remain just that: personal, not something the entire game needs to hear about. Don't hog the plot. This game is objectives-based and has unrestricted power levels, and as such the risk of one high-powered character dominating the game is very real. However, that would quickly become extremely boring for all the other players! For that reason, if a character has been central to the plot's resolution for two consecutive sections of the planet, the mod team reserves the right to request that the player sideline that character for the upcoming area. Think of it as being like Superman in a Justice League cartoon. Sure, Superman can solve just about any problem they encounter, but that wouldn't be very interesting, so the writers find ways to get Superman out of the way so the other characters can have their time to shine. Remain in character, to the greatest extent possible. Living and working on board the Platform is a very different scenario than most characters will encounter in their own universes, so some drift from their canon behavior is expected. However, their behavior should be rooted in their canon personality and motivations, as listed in their application's Personality section, whenever possible. Having your character do something means accepting the in-character consequences of their actions. We will try to be reasonable about this, but if your character is consistently behaving in a disruptive manner and then ducking the consequences of that behavior, we have a problem. At the same time... In-character actions are in-character. Don't get mad at the player for them. Just because a character said or did something abhorrent, doesn't mean the player is a bad person too. At the same time, the way your character treats another character should not be a reflection of your relationship with that character's player. IC =/= OOC. Blurring these lines is firmly discouraged. Cut and warn for sensitive material. This includes any smutty scenes, severe violence, or anything else that a large portion of the population may not want to see. Make sure nobody gets any nasty surprises while reading through the game's communities. And speaking of sensitive materials... Engage with serious topics thoughtfully and carefully. Sexual assault, racism, and other such issues are (understandably) emotional flashpoints for many people, and using them cavalierly or for shock value can be quite hurtful. While we do not intend to ban anything outright, we do ask that you make sure before you engage with these difficult topics that you have put a great deal of thought into them, and you are prepared to deal with the in-game consequences. Note: Posts, plots, and IC comments based on real-world current events are almost always a bad idea, no matter how well-intentioned. We therefore ask that you not do this. Underage players are welcome, but their smut is not. Players under the age of eighteen are barred from posting explicit sexual materials to any official game channel. Yes, even if you're seventeen years and eleven months old. This isn't a smut game, so hopefully this rule will prove entirely unnecessary. The modteam reserves the right to bar any player from applying to the game, or eject any current player, at any time, for any reason. We solemnly swear that we will use this power only for good. None of us like banning anybody, it's one of the most unpleasant things you sometimes have to do as a mod. We will exhaust every alternative resolution to any issues and provide plenty of warning before giving them the boot. Likewise, we will only preemptively ban players for proven histories of committing serious offenses, backed by compelling evidence. We don't expect to need to take that step very often, but, for example: Stormy, if you're reading this, you can fuck right off. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question about the Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation? Our friendly help desk professionals are more than happy to assist you! Before asking them a question, however, please glance at this brochure containing the answers to frequently asked questions. Q: What's this game about? Ozymandias is a panfandom/OC-friendly roleplay game where characters are recruited by the Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation to explore the mysterious planet of Atreus, an artificial planet created by an extinct alien race in search of resources, technology, knowledge, and more. Characters will live on a large floating platform that travels from area to area of the planet where expedition teams will be sent out and scientific teams will analyze their findings. As the characters gather information, they will be able to put it to use such as being able to translate alien text or know what plants are safe to eat and which can be used as deadly poison. Of course, there's plenty of behind the scenes work for the less adventurous characters to do to contribute to the effort! Q: Do players have to be a certain age to play in this game? There are no age limits for players. Q: Is there a limit to how many characters we can play? The current limit per player is three characters. This may change in the future. Q: Do you accept original characters? Yes, just use the OC application when you apply. Q: Do you allow fandom OCs such as player made MMO characters? Yes, as long as they aren't attached to major figures from canon. Q: Are AU characters allowed? Only canon AU characters, such as Kingdom Hearts or Dissidia versions of Final Fantasy characters are allowed. Q: Do you allow CRAUs? We do not allow CRAUs. Q: What are the communities and what is posted to each one? ![]() ![]() ![]() Q: So is this a "spooky jamjar" type of game? No. We would like to emphasize that the premise of the game is that characters willingly signed up for this job. They were approached by a recruiter who gave them a generous offer: work for the Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation, and in return, they may gain something that they want. What it is that was offered to them depends on the character. They may be looking for a fountain of youth or a way to treat an incurable disease. Maybe they just seek knowledge, want a stable income, or a new life for themselves. It's up to you to figure out what it is your character wants! But whatever it is, there's a chance they can find it on Atreus. Q: What if there isn't anything my character wants that badly? There are other possibilities for reasons your characters could join! Ozymandias often approaches institutions in search of manpower and were recruited that way. Perhaps they are a member of an organization such as a military and they've been assigned to work for the company. Perhaps someone they care about did sign up and they followed them. There are a lot of possibilities! Q: What if I still can't think of a reason my character would join? Unfortunately, this means that character would not be a good fit for the game, however be sure that you absolutely can't think of anything before you give up on them! Q: What exactly is this Ozywhatsits company? The Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation, usually shortened to the Ozymandias Corporation or just the Corporation, is a company that primarily deals in dimensional travel in search of resources. They recently discovered the planet of Atreus and realized they needed to expand their workforce in order to research and ultimately profit from it, so they decided to search the vast multiverse for individuals or groups that not only can contribute to the company's mission, but also seemed likely to join. The company has taken a hands off approach to the mission on Atreus and will mostly trust the characters to decide what to do and how to run the operation themselves. However, they do expect results and they will be communicating with the characters from time to time. Do a good job, and they might even send rewards for a job well done! Maybe. It depends on how much they set aside for the Employee Recognition Program's budget. Q: Is there an overaching plot? The game will be mostly episodic in nature - going from one area to the next, each one presenting unique challenges and opportunities. However, we do intend for players to gradually uncover more and more information about the planet and its creators as they go, and the events of previous segments may be significant again later. We want the plot to be mostly player driven: For each area we'll provide a set of story pieces - a civilization, structures, strange creatures or other phenomena - and it's up to the characters to decide how the deal with them. In fact, it will be totally possible for the characters to blow it completely, screw up a region of the planet beyond recovery, and just have to bail. The episodic nature allows for that possibility without it breaking a structured mod-run plot. Q: Is time still passing in our characters' home worlds? Yes. Q: Is there an age limit for characters? Because of the game's premise of characters working for a company, we do ask that characters be at least 13 years old. However, if you can justify a younger character being in the game, we will be happy to take a look and make a judgment call. Q: What if my character has no skills? No worries, the Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation has invested in an employee training program. You can handwave your character having received training to fill a position, such as driving vehicles or being a cook. Q: What is the network like? There is a rudimentary BBS-style message board where characters can communicate to the whole game. However, please note that it is text only and has no privacy options meaning anything your character posts on it is visible to the entire game population. There are also direct lines between areas of the platform, so if something goes terribly wrong in the science department, they can quickly reach security to send someone to subdue the sentient slime they were studying. In general, remember the network is meant for broad communication. If your character wants to have a private conversation, they will, unfortunately, have to find another way to communicate. You are free to post private indirect communications such as email or written notes between characters on the network community, but remember to clearly mark them as such. If the characters are meeting in person to talk, it should go on the logs community. Q: Speaking of, what are the technology levels of the game? The game's technology level is extremely high as the company has achieved feats such as dimensional travel. However, aesthetically, the Platform is modeled more on the Nostromo from Alien than on the U.S.S. Enterprise. Q: Are powers limited? Only absolutely world and gamebreaking powers will be prohibited. If your character can fly, use magic, or has super strength, for example, they will keep those powers. It is, after all, in the Corporation's best interests to make sure your character can perform to the best of their ability! If you are unsure if an ability your character possesses would be allowed or not, feel free to contact us. Q: What can my character bring with them? Your character is free to bring personal items such as weapons, books, personal objects, etc. However, they are responsible for storing and taking care of them. The items they bring must be able to fit into their rooms, so sadly, they will have to leave any giant robots they may have at home. Q: What kind of equipment is available for characters to use? The Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation has generously supplied equipment such as powerful blasters for employees to use for personal defense. Sensor equipment is available to search for artifacts or survey the land and jetpacks for air travel. The Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation strongly forbids the use of jetpacks for recreational use. Fuel is expensive. There is also a large array of equipment and vehicles on the platform itself. You can find descriptions of them on the platform page. Q: What does it mean to be an officer? It means your character will have added IC responsibilities in addition to the normal duties of someone in their position. They will be expected to help run their departments, make sure their underlings are working well and efficiently, deal with problems between employees, report to superiors from company headquarters, and fill out paperwork. Lots and lots of paperwork. Most of these duties can be handwaved. Q: Why can't all the characters be officers? That would defeat the point of the officer position! Besides, it's a lot of extra IC work for characters and not all of them will want the added workload. Being an officer is solely an IC position. Players of officer characters will not get any OOC benefits over players of non-officer characters. We will make sure that both officer and non-officer characters get their times to shine in plots and events. Q: Can my character die? Can they be fired? Yes, and yes. Do be warned that death is permanent. As for termination, the Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation tends to be very lenient regarding employee behavior, but there is still a very real chance of getting fired if Corporate deems your character simply too risky to retain. Q: What happens if my character gets fired? The character is ejected from the game ICly. There are no OOC consequences of this. The mods will always work with you so that your character will never be fired without your consent. At the same time, we do intend for this to be an IC consequence for your character, so if you wish to have them remain employed, be careful of what they do! Q: What's the activity check like? The activity check is monthly. We require a total of 10 comments and a short sentence describing how your character has contributed to the game's plot. We are not looking for a large, game changing action, just a small contribution. For example, you could say your character ferried equipment to the planet surface, helped build a base camp, proposed plans, did research, treated wounds, provided supplies, or protected their fellow employees from carnivorous bunnies. |

Introduction | |
Of course, we at the Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation understand that our employees are only as good as the tools we provide for them, and we are committed to ensuring that you are well-equipped to carry out your duties. At the same time, however, supplies are naturally limited: equipment can only be manufactured off-world, and dimensional transportation is prohibitively expensive. For that reason, equipment is generally issued on an as-needed basis, according to the situation and each employee's natural abilities. For example, someone who is naturally resistant to physical damage is less likely to be issued a suit of E-1 Aegis armor. The following is a list of some of the equipment which may be issued to you.
Sensor Equipment | |
The AB&T Data Logger Issued to nearly every employee who travels to the planet's surface, the Data Logger is an all-purpose detection and recording tool. It is capable of performing basic analysis of whatever it scans, and transmitting this data to the Platform for further analysis. While it's no substitute for a full laboratory inspection, it is extremely useful for on-the-spot assessment.
Armaments | |
The Stenson C46 Pulse Rifle Specially designed for use on Atreus, the Stenson C46 Pulse Rifle is the firearm of choice for employees of the Ozymandias Corporation. With each pull of the trigger, it fires a compressed burst of superheated plasma at incredible speeds. The Stenson offers the user complete control of their firepower output, with settings ranging from one ("Tickles") to ten ("Annihilation"). The Rugal 8 Plasma Pistol This sidearm functions in much the same way as the Stenson C46, but in a more compact frame and with less firepower and accuracy. The Rugal is the ideal weapon to pack when discretion is at a premium, or when you need to travel light. E-1 Aegis Powered Armor This armor not only protects the wearer from harm, it also provides enhanced strength and mobility. Plates of specially-reinforced metal alloy are suspended over a protective mesh, all of it supported by a mechanical exoskeleton. Rocket packs, located on the back plate and the bottom of the boots, allow for short-range flight, while special servomotors in the legs automatically absorb impacts, allowing the wearer to safely land after a fall from almost any height.
Vehicles | |
The T98 Flamingo VTOL Dropship Kept aloft by a powerful swiveling engine affixed to each wing, these dropships are the main method of transportation between the Platform and the surface. Each is large enough to carry up to thirty people, multiple X4 Elephant Ground Transports, or any other equipment needed. Although lightly armed, with only a pair of rotating plasma turrets slung underneath the wings, when need be they are capable of performing bombardment from a considerable height. The X4 Elephant Ground Transport Each of these ground vehicles seats four, and is propelled by four wheels connected to a high-powered engine. The X4 is capable of traversing all but the most hazardous terrain, and is your best option for transportation while on the planet's surface. |
Recruitment
Jul. 24th, 2015 01:02 amMr. Shelley
By now, you are no doubt familiar with our recruiter, Mr. Shelley. It may be necessary to inform you, at this point, of his true nature. Recruiting from across the infinite span of the multiverse is a task greater than any traditional Human Resources department could hope to accomplish. The energy cost of sending representatives to thousands of worlds alone would be prohibitive. And yet, the Corporation needs to be able to recruit in order to function. Mr. Shelley is the solution to this problem. The science is too complex to detail in this space, but in essence, a quantum computer, which exists partially in all universes simultaneously, scans each universe's probability field for patterns which indicate an individual or institution who is likely to be amenable to our offer. When it identifies these patterns, the computer projects a psychic image in order to make contact. Those of you who were approached directly may remember the day that Mr. Shelley, a well-dressed man with a briefcase, knocked on your front door and presented you with a job offer. However, if you think back, you'll find that you cannot recall a single actual feature of his face. Mr. Shelley never existed, save for in your mind. He is, nonetheless, extremely persuasive. Of course, those of you who were recruited through partner institutions will have had considerably less contact with Mr. Shelley, as he would instead have approached your superiors. |
The Treasure Planet
Jul. 24th, 2015 12:41 amAtreus
The planet of Atreus is unlike any other in the known multiverse. To begin with, it exists inside a pocket universe, a tiny fold in the skin of the multiverse which was somehow twisted and molded until it formed a stable bubble. Unlike all other universes, this pocket universe is finite in size and does not expand; if you were to fly directly away from the planet, within a few day's journey you would find yourself turned around entirely to follow the pocket universe's spherical limitations, so that you continue travelling through space without getting any further from the planet itself. As this is extremely disorienting, testing it is not recommended. The planet itself does not orbit any star, or indeed orbit anything at all. Instead, the planet is itself orbited by two sources of heat and light, one brighter than the other, which when seen from the planet's surface emulate the appearance of a sun and moon. Apart from these two features, however, the Atreus sky is completely bare. There are no visible stars at night. And, of course, one cannot ignore the planet's unique construction. The planet consists of discrete segments, presumably taken from planets under the Builders' control, compressed together by means unknown and transformed into a single planetary structure. Although these segments are not perfectly uniform in shape or size, they are generally hexagonal in shape, and between 200 and 500 kilometres across, for a maximum area of approximately 216500 square kilometres. One would expect that these segments, once connected, would merge together and eventually form a coherent ecosystem. This was, however, clearly not a part of the Builders's plans. Instead, enormous and impenetrable energy shields rise from beneath the ground at the borders of each segments. These shields keep each segment discrete from one another, so that completely incompatible environments can exist side by side. Each segment contains a Builder structure, sometimes disguised as a temple or geological formation, containing the generators which power these shields as well as devices which maintain each section's climate, presumably tuned to match the segment's home planet. |
Corporate History | |
Welcome to the Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation! We're all excited to have you aboard. In this first part of your orientation package, we'll go over some basic information about the Corporation itself. In order to understand the history of the Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation, one must begin by understanding Atreus: a planet, approximately earth-sized, tucked away in an artificial pocket between dimensions. When a small team of dimensional explorers stumbled across it, they immediately knew they had made an exceptional find, because this planet was impossible. Vast deserts bordering sharply on rain forests, volcanic wastelands ringed by frozen tundra, an ocean which simply stopped at a line so that the neighbouring grassland was loomed over by an enormous wall of water. It was a patchwork planet assembled with no mind for the laws of geology or physics, as if some enormous hand had plucked out sections of various other planets and pressed them together, somehow leaving each section separate from the others. Which, they soon discovered, was exactly what it was. It was created by the last members of a dying alien race, millions of years ago, as a monument to their former glory. This race, now referred to only as the Builders, is believed to have ruled a vast empire which encompassed vast reaches of time and space, but vanished for reasons unknown. The planet clearly needed exploration: who knew what kind of artifacts such a species might have left behind? There could be cures for all diseases, deadly weapons of war, new materials with incredible properties, unlimited energy sources...and that's without even touching on the natural resources which these planetary chunks might contain. A treasure trove of riches, ripe for the taking. However, the small group of explorers who stumbled across this trove lacked the manpower and equipment to exploit it. Not only was there a huge amount of ground to cover, much of that ground was exceptionally dangerous. To that end, they founded the Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation, and approached governments, corporations, organizations, and individuals from all across the multiverse with an offer: commit manpower and resources to the exploration effort, in exchange for a share of whatever is found. Today, the Ozymandias Corporation works with thousands of partner institutions, spanning thousands of universes. As part of the Ozymandias Corporation, your job will be to chart new ground on Atreus, uncover the secrets of a long-lost civilization, discover new and incredible natural resources...and, of course, keep yourself and your coworkers safe. There's wonders on Atreus, enough to satisfy any desire, but there's dangers as well. |

The Platform
Jul. 14th, 2015 10:06 pmIntroduction
The T-66 Vantram Drives Tricore Mobile Surveying Platform, better known as the Mobile Surveying Platform (or simply The Platform), will be your home for the duration of your contract with the Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation. It is a marvel of engineering and design, drawing on knowledge and systems from hundreds of worlds across dozens of timelines. For as long as you're with the Ozymandias Corporation, you'll eat, work, and live on the Platform. As such, it's a good idea for you to begin familiarizing yourself as soon as possible
History | |
When that first group of dimensional explorers stumbled across Atreus, they immediately understood that they had found a true treasure trove, but also knew that their current equipment was insufficient to the task of exploiting it. The energy demands of dimensional travel had kept their craft small, scarcely large enough to fits its crew, and it was only intended for short-term voyages. To map, mine, and otherwise access the riches of the Treasure Planet would require more people, over a longer period of time, and would need enormous pieces of equipment. To this end, they immediately began seeking bids for the construction of a suitable operations platform. The end product would need to be mobile, self-sufficient, capable of the transportation of all required equipment, and be livable over the longterm for a sufficiently-sized crew. Additionally, the platform needed to be designed to be transported to the planet in small pieces over time, and then assembled on site, in order to spare the expense of opening a dimensional rift large enough to accommodate the finished platform. In the end, the contract was awarded to the Vantram Drives Shipyard of universe QM6632. The prototype went into production shortly thereafter. To date, six T-66 Vantram Drives Tricore Mobile Surveying Platforms have been constructed, two of which have since been retired or destroyed.
Layout | |
The T-66 Vantram Drives Tricore Mobile Surveying Platform consists of three enormous engines, generally referred to as 'spires', organized in a triangular fashion and connected by multiple walkways. At the center of this formation sits a smaller structure, containing the Platform's power core and dimensional transporter. Any two of the spire engines are capable of sustaining a stationary position, and one engine is capable of performing a controlled descent. Most of each spire is taken up by the engines, which must continually fire in order to keep the platform aloft. Each spire also has a flight desk on its uppermost level, a vehicle hangar in the levels below it, security stations, and a massive freight elevator running through its center from top to bottom. The remaining space is allocated to living quarters, storage, and work and recreation areas as needed. Each spire, designated by the letters A, B, and C, serves a specific function.

Regulations
Jul. 14th, 2015 07:15 pmChain of Command
All members of the crew shall belong to one of the six divisions, according to their training and assignment. Each crewmember should perform only their assigned duties, except in the event of an emergency. The divisions are:
Each division shall have at least one OFFICER, appointed by Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation Headquarters. These officers are responsible for establishing and enforcing the duty roster, performing administrative functions, and making regular reports to Headquarters. All regular crewmembers report directly to their division’s officers, and the officers in turn report to headquarters. In order to encourage flexibility and outside-the-box thinking in its employees, the Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation does not dictate a precise command structure, leaving it up to each platform’s officers to organize themselves as they see fit, provided their division meets company standards for performance and output.
Code of Conduct | |
All employees are expected to adhere to the following standards of behavior at all times:
| |
Safety Precautions | |
For your safety and the safety of those around you, the Ozymandias Pandimensional Mining Corporation enforces the following safety regulations:
Disregard for one or more of these regulations may be ground for disciplinary action, up to and including termination in extreme cases.
Shift Roster | |
Each twenty-four hour day is broken down into three eight-hour duty shifts: From 0700 to 1500, from 1500 to 2300, and from 2300 to 0700. Of each ten-day cycle, each crewmember will work seven shifts, allowing them three days of rest. If circumstances demand it, the Company reserves the right to schedule a crewmember for up to two consecutive duty shifts. If a crewmember works for more than seven shifts in a ten-day cycle, they are entitled to an overtime rate of one and a half times. Each division’s duty roster is constructed by its officers.
Artifact Retrieval | |
The following procedures must be followed when retrieving artifacts for assessment.

Emergency Procedures | |
In the event of an emergency, all personnel should report to the nearest officer for instructions. Officers should take control of the situation, perform a head-count, and work to deal with the emergency. In the event of an emergency which threatens the safety of the Mobile Surveying Platform itself, the Security division is authorized to take direct command of the all personnel until the situation is resolved. This will be announced as a RED ALERT. In these circumstances, all personnel should follow the orders of the nearest security officer without question. |
